About
A small American firm doing patient, careful work.
We started in a converted carriage house off Wetumpka Lane in 2017. Eight years later we're still there, still small on purpose, and still answering our own phone.

A note from the founder
"I spent twenty years inside other people's businesses. I started this one to do it properly."
Before Onward, I spent sixteen years in operations and finance roles for mid-sized American manufacturers and distributors — most of them family-owned, most of them quietly extraordinary, most of them underserved by the consulting industry that was supposed to help them.
I kept seeing the same pattern: an owner who knew her business cold, a stack of financials nobody had really read, and an outside firm selling a transformation when what was needed was a careful pair of eyes and a written opinion.
That's what Onward is. Not a platform, not a methodology, not a framework. A small group of analysts who will sit with your numbers, tell you the truth, and stay long enough to make sure it sticks.

What we believe
Plain English wins.
If we can't explain a finding without jargon, we don't understand it well enough yet.
The owner is the expert.
Our job isn't to know the business better than you. It's to give you a clearer mirror.
Small is a feature.
We deliberately stay under fifteen people. It's the only way we can keep doing the work this carefully.
Stay accountable.
Every engagement ends with a signed memo. Every quarter, we check whether what we said came true.
No surprise invoices.
Fixed fees, written scope, and a hard cap on hours. If we go over, that's our problem.
Local first.
We're an American firm. Every analyst is U.S.-based and named. We don't subcontract or offshore.

Where we work
Watchung, New Jersey. By choice.
Our office sits on a quiet residential street roughly forty minutes from Manhattan and twenty minutes from Newark Liberty. It's close enough to be useful to clients on the East Coast, far enough to think clearly, and the kind of town where the mailman knows your name. Most of our local clients come visit. The coffee's good.

The team
Eleven people. One office. All on the same time zone.
Our analysts come from operations, accounting, retail, and healthcare — not from a consulting firm assembly line. The average tenure of an Onward analyst is 4.6 years, which is boring on a press release and very useful when you call us in March and the same person who knew your business in January picks up.
